FL Therapist Fatally Shoots Homeless Man, Hides Body In Trunk: Reports

A FL anger management therapist was accused of shooting and killing a homeless man over an ongoing dispute between the two of them.

DELAND, FL — A Florida anger management therapist is accused of shooting and killing a 51-year-old homeless man and putting the man's body in the trunk of his car, Deland Police said Thursday.

Police accused Travis McBride, 46, of fatally shooting Clinton Dorsey around 7 a.m. in the 100 block of Frankfort Avenue. NBC News reported several people told police Dorsey was homeless.

Officers first responded to a suspicious incident call before they searched the area and found the body nearby the area, police said. At the time, police did not say where they found the body.

However, the next day, police identified McBride as the suspect and said he was charged on suspicion of premeditated first-degree murder. Volusia County Jail records show McBride remained Wednesday incarcerated without bond.

Police later said McBride shot Dorsey at Frankfort, and responding units found Dorsey's body in the trunk of McBride's car.

The shooting resulted from an ongoing dispute between the two men, police said.

A female 911 caller told officers that McBride went to her door in search of Dorsey the previous night, the outlet reported, citing an affidavit. The woman said McBride alleged Dorsey hurt his dogs.

The woman said McBride claimed he would kill Dorsey though she later said she was unsure if that was what she had heard, PEOPLE reported.

The outlet reported the woman heard at least eight gunshots hours later and claimed to see McBride shoot Dorsey. She accused McBride of returning to her home the morning after to threaten her if she told authorities, PEOPLE reported.

NBC News reported the woman claimed to have seen McBride drag Dorsey's body to a wooded area.

McBride owns a mental-health facility and is a therapist specializing in anger management and bipolar disorder, PEOPLE reported, citing McBride's LinkedIn and website.
