ST. PETE-CLEARWATER, FL — A Florida tourism agency is looking for three people willing to spend 10 days exploring St. Pete-Clearwater and each will be paid $10,000 for the assignment.

Visit St. Pete-Clearwater announced this week that applications are open for three temporary contract positions created as part of a new tourism marketing campaign.

The positions — Chief Vibes Officer, Chief Flavor Explorer and Chief Sunset Curator — will send three selected applicants to the St. Pete-Clearwater area this fall to document different aspects of the destination.

Along with the $10,000 contract fee, officials will also cover airfare, accommodations and access to experiences around the area.

Visit St. Pete-Clearwater says the Chief Vibes Officer will focus primarily on live music, nightlife and entertainment, while the Chief Flavor Explorer will visit restaurants and other food and drink destinations.

The Chief Sunset Curator will focus on the area's museums, murals, neighborhoods and Gulf Coast sunsets.

All three will be expected to document and share the people, businesses, attractions and other experiences they encounter during the 10-day assignment.

“Our new executives have the tough job of eating, drinking, exploring and soaking up St. Pete-Clearwater ... and getting paid for it,” Visit St. Pete-Clearwater President and CEO Brian Lowack said. “It may sound like a vacation, but there’s real work to do.”

The jobs are part of the tourism agency's new "BEACH.CULTURE." marketing campaign, which aims to draw attention to attractions beyond the beaches traditionally associated with Pinellas County and Florida's Gulf Coast.

Visit St. Pete-Clearwater pointed to Tarpon Springs' historic sponge docks and Greek culture, Dunedin's craft breweries and St. Petersburg's museums, murals and restaurants as examples of what the selected applicants could explore.

The agency also said the campaign comes as more visitors are participating in activities beyond going to the beach.

Over the past five years, the percentage of St. Pete-Clearwater visitors participating in activities such as biking, fishing, dining, visiting museums, nightlife and major events has increased by double digits.

The search for the three contractors is being promoted nationally, including through billboards in Times Square and a partnership with workplace content creator Corporate Sween.

Following the 10-day assignments, Visit St. Pete-Clearwater said the three contractors could also be asked to participate in future promotional events outside Florida.
