TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida has opened up 38 emergency shelters in anticipation of what could be a devastating Hurricane Michael. Michael is poised to make landfall as a major Category 4 hurricane sometime Wednesday afternoon.

While the Dean Bozeman High School shelter is now full, nearly all shelters remain open. Patch has mapped every shelter listed on the state's disaster website for your convenience. To find out more information — such as whether they're pet friendly — click here.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott said Michael could be the "worst storm the Florida Panhandle has seen in a century." Conditions are expected to rapidly deteriorate Wednesday as Michael bears down on the state with 145-mph winds. The storm could become a Category 5 storm at some point.
