ACROSS FLORIDA — Tropical storm Nicole made its way across Florida Wednesday night, roughly a month after hurricane Ian left its mark. The sprawling storm has been downgraded from a category 1 hurricane to a tropical storm. Damaging winds extended as far as 450 miles from the center of storm, as Nicole moved northward over central Florida.
Tall highrises along Daytona Shore proved to be at risk, with residents being forced to evacuate Wednesday. Forty-five of Florida’s 67 counties were under a state of emergency declaration, according to AP. Over two dozen school districts closed early, while both Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort said it was unlikely they would open as scheduled today.
