FLORIDA — As inflation pushes prices higher at retailers nationwide, Florida families are more mindful than ever this year when it comes to how much money they’re spending on supplies and other back-to-school items.

In fact, about one-third of back-to-school shoppers are cutting back on spending in other areas to cover the cost of items for the upcoming school year, according to a new trends survey released by the National Retail Federation.

Florida shoppers got some relief in the form of the state's sales tax holiday, which waived taxes on many back-to-school purchase from clothes to backpacks. It wrapped up Sunday.
