• In honor of volunteers (franklincounty.news) — Local volunteers who keep Apalachicola and Franklin County running smoothly were recently honored during the Apalachicola Boat and Car Show. The Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce and the city recognized community leaders from Eastpoint, county beautification efforts, and the city’s parks committee for their year-round service.
   

• Sand Beach Road wildfire contained (franklincounty.news) — A wildfire in the Sand Beach Road area of the Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area is now over 50% contained, with no homes currently in danger. Fire crews and local volunteers have ringed the blaze with fire lines, but Franklin County’s burn ban remains in effect, and deputies have already cited one person for violating it.
