• Apalachicola Bay oyster season to open in October with reduced limits (wjhg.com) — Oystermen and recreational harvesters in and around Apalachicola Bay face a tighter wild oyster season starting October 1, with commercial limits cut from 31 to 19 bags and only three reefs open. After a successful reopening earlier this year, FWC is balancing harvest with a long-term $10 million restoration effort that aims to rebuild 2,000 acres of oyster habitat by 2032.
