The 2 p.m. special session at City Hall will also finalize leadership for Parks and Recreation and confirm the city’s longtime IT director, shaping how City Hall is managed going forward.
   

• Seminole Wind Now Florida's Anthem (herald-citizen.com) — Apopka’s own John Anderson is being honored statewide as his song “Seminole Wind” is officially recognized as Florida’s anthem. The governor also ordered historic markers in Apopka and plans to name a Lake Apopka North Shore wildlife drive and trail system after Anderson, spotlighting the city’s connection to Florida’s musical and environmental heritage.
   

• Larry James Benjamin (orlando-news.com) — Apopka is mourning the loss of 78-year-old resident Larry James Benjamin, who passed away on October 28. Remembered for his successful retail career, love of running and gardening, and joyful personality, he leaves behind his wife Dorothy, daughter Kristin, extended family, and many friends who cherished his humor and energy.
