• Police officers accuse felon — on probation for weapon-related offense — of shooting man in the face in Miami Gardens (local10.com) — A shooting victim from a Miami Gardens Goodwill was airlifted to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital after police say a 38-year-old felon on probation opened fire from a pickup truck. Officers later arrested the suspect on an attempted murder charge, and he is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center while a Miami-Dade judge oversees the new case.
   

• USDA recalls nearly 30,000 pounds of beef from Argentina over missed inspection (eciks.org) — An Aventura-based importer, Corte Argentino USA LLC, is recalling nearly 30,000 pounds of Argentinian boneless beef that entered U.S. commerce without the required federal reinspection, with products distributed in Florida and Texas. Residents are urged to check labels for specific establishment and shipping numbers and either discard the meat or return it to the store, even though no illnesses have been reported so far.
