16-Year-Old Killed, Another Teen In Critical Condition After Motorcycle Crash: FL Troopers

A 17-year-old motorcyclist is in critical condition and his passenger, 16, was killed in a Bradenton crash, FL Highway Patrol said.

BRADENTON, FL — A teenager is dead and another critically injured after their motorcycle hit a car early Monday morning in Bradenton, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A Harley Davidson, driven by a 17-year-old Bradenton boy, was heading east on State Road 70 approaching a red light at the intersection of Caruso Road just before 3:30 a.m.

At the same time, a Chevy sedan was heading west on the highway and lawfully turning south onto Caruso Road with a green light, FHP said.

The motorcyclist entered the intersection, hitting the right front of the car, troopers said.

Both the driver and his passenger, a 16-year-old Bradenton boy, were thrown from the motorcycle in the crash.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by Manatee County EMS while the motorcyclist was brought to Blake Hospital in critical condition, FHP said.

The car’s driver, a 52-year-old Bradenton woman, suffered minor injuries.

FHP’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.
