Woman Dies After Riding Universal Studios FL’s Revenge Of The Mummy Ride

A 70-year-old woman died after riding Universal Studios Florida's Revenge of the Mummy ride, a new report from the state said.

ORLANDO, FL — A 70-year-old woman died after riding the Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios FL in November, according to a newly released report from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

The high-speed roller coaster in the New York section of the theme park plunges riders into complete darkness.

The woman was unresponsive after the ride on Nov. 25 and later died at the hospital, according to the report.

The report compiled incidents at Florida theme parks dating back to 2001.

The latest quarterly update to the report, which was released Thursday, added incidents that happened at the Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Sea World, Busch Gardens and Legoland theme parks between October and December of last year.

The Revenge of the Mummy death is one of nine incidents at Universal during this time period.

Other incidents on the report include:

  • A 78-year-old man experienced chest pain after riding Stardust Racers on Oct. 6.
  • A 41-year-old woman experienced motion sickness and stroke symptoms after riding The Incredible Hulk Coaster on Oct. 13.
  • A 61-year-old man went into cardiac arrest while riding Stardust Racers on Oct. 14.
  • A 61-year-old man had lower back spasms on Doctor Doom’s Fearfall on Nov. 23.
  • A 49-year-old woman had chest pain while riding Jurassic World VelociCoaster on Nov. 30.

In September, a 32-year-old man became unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers, Patch reported.

He later died at a hospital from blunt impact injuries.
