7th Person Convicted In 2023 Fatal Armed Robbery: Bradenton Police

A seventh person was convicted in connection with a 2023 fatal armed robbery in Bradenton, police said.

BRADENTON, FL — The last of seven suspects arrested by Bradenton police in connection with a 2023 fatal armed robbery was convicted Wednesday.

A Manatee County jury found Tyreak Allen, 23, guilty of first-degree murder, a capital felony that carries a life sentence in the Department of Corrections, Bradenton police said in a news release.

He was also found guilty of attempted armed robbery with a firearm and sentenced to 20 years to run concurrent with his life sentence, police said.

On Jan. 23, Allen, along with Jerome Williams, Shamar Mobley, Dorian Brooks, Kevion Brooks, Kobe Brooks, and Mekhi Booker, went to a home in the 100 block of 10th Avenue West with the intent to rob James Jackson, Jr.

The suspects demanded that Jackson give them a gold chain. When he refused, several of the suspects opened fire, hitting Jackson and two other men, police said.

More than 60 rounds were collected from the scene.

Jackson died from his injuries a week later on January 31, 2023.

K9 Officer Smolarz heard the shooting and saw a car fleeing the area. The car crashed near the intersection of 13th Avenue West and 1st Street. K9 Drax, who has since retired, caught Allen.

Williams and Mobley were later spotted by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit and arrested.

As the investigation continued, Sergeant Andy Perez and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Investigation Unit identified and arrested the remaining suspects.

Earlier this year, Williams, 23, pleaded no contest to attempted robbery and constructive possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Booker, 21, also pleaded no contest to second-degree murder with a firearm and attempted robbery, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison on each charge, to run concurrently.

In 2025, Dorian Brooks, 27, pleaded no contest to a robbery with a weapon and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Last year, Mobley, 23, also pleaded no contest to attempted robbery with a weapon and was sentenced to five years in prison with credit for time served.

In 2024, Kevion Brooks, 25, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with a firearm and attempted robbery with a firearm. He was sentenced to 25 years and 15 years in the Department of Corrections, to run concurrently.

Meanwhile, Kobe Brooks, 22, pleaded no contest to grand theft and was sentenced to 18 months of probation.
