The Chevy Trailblazer was heading south on the road as it turned into the Mira Lagos Apartment complex and hit the 70-year-old victim, who was walking north on the sidewalk near the apartments around 1:45 p.m., troopers said.
The man was critically injured in the crash and brought to an area hospital, where he later died.
The crash remains under investigation as investigators determine which adult in the SUV was driving at the time of the crash, troopers said.
A 38-year-old man and an 8-year-old boy, both of Bradenton, and a 31-year-old Fort Pierce woman were in the SUV at the time of the crash.
