From Surviving to Thriving
When was the last time you felt vibrant and energized with a sense of inner peace and an overall feeling of wellness? Join us on this blog to explore the impact you can have on your own well being.

When I meet people I introduce myself as Ellen Brenner. If we were to meet professionally, I would tell you I am a holistic health practitioner. But if you were to review my medical records, you would be introduced to me another way.
It will say, “high functioning spinal cord injury.”
Several years ago, I broke my neck in two places. It was a near death and a rebirth. And it was life altering. How is this possible?
Until that point, I was what you would call an “unhappily successful” executive. I wanted desperately to get off the treadmill but I didn’t believe I could. And it was making me sick. Jacked up on caffeine and adrenaline, I worked intense 10-12 hour days, slept a fitful five to six hours a night, traveled by plane to clients every other week, ate on the run, had a fierce addiction to sugar and carbs, and got little to no exercise, leisure activity or downtime.

I couldn't remember the last time I felt vibrant and energized with a sense of inner peace and an overall feeling of well being. Sound familiar?
And, then, the horse that suddenly ran across the road in front of me at midnight changed everything. Not at that time and not all at once. It was an incremental journey, sometimes filled with faith and sometimes with fear. But, I kept moving forward to reclaim my life. In doing so, I reconnected with who I truly am.
I created Healing in Balance to support others who are looking to move from surviving to thriving. Through restorative therapies and a comprehensive approach to how the body, mind and spirit impact our health, clients gain a greater understanding of the power they have over their own health. These are the topics we will explore in this blog. I invite you to join us.
