Cops: Woman Killed Puppy to Board a Plane

The Florida woman faces animal abuse charges in Nebraska.

A 56-year-old Edgewater woman faces cruelty to animal charges after police in Nebraska say she killed a Doberman puppy so she could catch a plane.

The incident unfolded Friday at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport, according to the Detroit Free Press. There Cynthia V. Anderson was barred access to her flight because the 2-week-old puppy she was toting in her carry-on bag was not properly contained nor was it deemed old enough to travel, the paper stated.

Unwilling to miss her flight, Anderson is accused of walking into a ladies’ room and drowning the puppy, The Grand Island Independent reported. Shortly after Anderson left the restroom, another traveler found the dead puppy in a toilet, the paper stated.

It seems Anderson’s Friday flight was her second attempt to leave the state. The Independent quoted Grand Island Police Sgt. Stan Steele as saying she tried to board a flight on Thursday with three puppies in tow, but was denied access. Two of the puppies were ultimately turned over to Anderson’s parents with Anderson making the second attempt to fly with the single puppy on Friday.
