Two Drivers Critically Injured In Head-On Crash On State Road 70: FL Troopers (patch.com) — Drivers from Archer and Boynton Beach were critically injured when their cars collided head-on on State Road 70 in Manatee County, just west of Mobley Pond Lane. Three girls riding in one vehicle suffered minor injuries, and everyone involved was taken to local hospitals. The crash left both vehicles in a roadside grass ditch and remains under investigation by Florida Highway Patrol.
   

2. 9 Bradenton-area restaurants cited for high-priority violations (heraldtribune.com) — Bradenton diners may want to check recent health inspection results, as several local restaurants, including spots in Bradenton, Palmetto, Parrish and Anna Maria Island, were cited for high-priority violations during Aug. 31–Sept. 6. The report details issues like unsafe food temperatures, chemical storage problems, and follow-up inspections, and also explains how Florida's inspection system works and how to look up or report restaurants yourself.
   

3. The Nest Brings Housing, Health Connections to Florida Households (housingfinance.com) — A new workforce housing community called The Nest at Robin's Apartments in Bradenton is opening 182 affordable units aimed at households earning up to 80% of area median income. With some apartments reserved for Manatee County first responders and local health and school employees, the project also plans on-site telehealth services through MCR Health to support residents' well-being.
   

4. Bradenton man gets federal prison time for illegal machine gun, prosecutors say (bradenton.com) — A Bradenton man has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison after Manatee County deputies and federal agents found a converted machine gun and other firearms in his home. Prosecutors say his prior felony drug and firearm convictions made any gun possession illegal, and he'll face three years of supervised release after prison while also appealing the case.
   

5. Piece of World Trade Center steel stands as 9/11 memorial in Bradenton (mysuncoast.com) — A World Trade Center steel beam now stands as a powerful 9/11 memorial at Southern Manatee Fire Rescue in Bradenton, offering residents a local place to reflect 25 years after the attacks. Brought back by Bradenton firefighters in 2010, the beam was transformed into a tribute representing the Twin Towers, Pentagon, and Flight 93.
