Soccer Club Treasurer Used $146K In Club Funds For Personal Expenses: Manatee Sheriff

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — The treasurer of the North Manatee Soccer Club is accused of using more than $146,000 in club funds to pay for personal travel and living expenses, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Nancy Fetzner, 52, was charged with scheme to defraud $50,000 or more following an investigation into the club's finances, the sheriff’s office said.

The investigation began June 29 after MCSO was notified of suspected financial fraud involving the soccer club.

Detectives reviewing financial records found transactions that appeared unrelated to club business, including purchases associated with Disney, a trip to Las Vegas and sporting events. At least $8,000 in such purchases was identified, along with additional transactions that appeared to be personal, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators said Fetzner, beginning in August 2023, deposited more than $44,000 into a club sub-account through remote deposits. She also transferred nearly $102,000 from the club's primary business account to the sub-account, according to the investigation.

Fetzner allegedly used money from the sub-account to cover personal travel and living expenses, resulting in a total loss of more than $146,000 for the soccer club, detectives said.

She was arrested on an active warrant and subsequently removed from her position as the club's treasurer.
