Student Brought Gun To Bradenton High School: Manatee County Sheriff
A 14-year-old was found showing a gun to other students in a boy's bathroom at Southeast HS, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

BRADENTON, FL — A student faces charges after bringing a gun to Southeast High School Tuesday morning, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.
A school administrator saw the 14-year-old showing the gun to three other students in a boy’s restroom around 11 a.m., the agency said.
The teen tried to hide the weapon by putting it in his backpack, but the administrator took the bag and escorted the student to the school resource officer.

The boy was taken into custody by the officer, who found a 9mm handgun and four live rounds in the backpack, the sheriff’s office said.
The deputy didn’t find additional weapons on the three other students involved and no threats were made about a shooting or violence to anyone at the school.

The teen has been charged with possession of a firearm on school property. Deputies are investigating where he got the gun and why he had it on school property.
While deputies released the boy’s name, it is Patch's policy not to identify those in the juvenile court system. The sheriff’s office hasn’t said whether the suspect is being charged as an adult or juvenile.
