Tim Hortons Celebrates FL Opening With Free Coffee For A Month
Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons is celebrating the recent opening of its first Florida store with free coffee for a month for 500 guests.
BRADENTON, FL — Months after opening, the new Tim Hortons in Bradenton is celebrating on Saturday by offering free coffee for a month for 500 guests, according to a news release from the company.
The Canadian coffee chain’s location at 7935 State Road 64 E. is the brand’s first in Florida as it returns to the Sunshine State.
“For years we’ve been hearing from people across Florida that they’d love to have a Tim Hortons restaurant close to home and we were so thrilled to work with excellent franchisee partners to recently open our first new Tims in the state,” Tim Hortons U.S. president Katerina Glyptis said.

She added, “We know tons of Floridians already love the brand and we’ve been so excited to introduce others in the Bradenton community to our delicious beverages, breakfasts, and baked goods, which are a daily morning routine for millions of guests across the United States and Canada.”
On Saturday, all guests can also order 99 cent hot or iced coffees and $1 10-packs of Timbits.

Activities planned that day include decorating Tim Hortons Smile Cookies, which will launch on April 27. Every spring, the week-long Smile Cookie campaign donates all of the purchase price of the cookies to charities in local communities.
This year, the sales of Smile Cookies in Bradenton will support Foundation for Dreams, which works to celebrate the abilities and develop the comprehensive skill set of children with special needs and chronic illnesses ages seven to 17.
Tim Hortons previously operated coffee shops in Florida, opening them in the 1980s, though all were closed by the early 1990s, reports said.
The chain’s move into Florida has been in the works for years.
“We are excited for our recent expansion into new markets in the U.S. and are prioritizing growth in the South Florida market,” Ryan Ferranti, head of business development for Tim Hortons in the U.S., told the Miami Herald in a 2023 email. “While we are targeting growth in multiple territories within the state of Florida, Miami-Dade and Broward counties are of particular interest given the significant Canadian presence and tourism in South Florida.”
Ferranti indicated that Tim Hortons was looking to open storefronts in areas frequented by Canadian snowbirds.
Tim Hortons, affectionately called Tims or Timmies by its fans, was founded in Canada in 1964 and opened its first U.S. location near Buffalo New York, in 1984.
Today, there are more than 6,000 Tim Hortons around the world. This includes more than 690 restaurants in the U.S., where the company already has a well-known presence in New York, Michigan and Ohio.
There’s also a focus on new U.S. markets, including Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland and North Carolina, in addition to Florida, the news release said.
