VA Motorcyclist Killed In Dump Truck Crash In Manatee County: FL Troops

A motorcyclist died after a crash with a dump truck in Parrish, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PARRISH, FL — A motorcyclist died after crashing into a dump truck Thursday afternoon in Parrish, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The 62-year-old Virginia man riding a Harley Davidson and the dump truck were heading west on Golf Course Road around 12:15 p.m.

When he slowed to make a left turn onto Creekside Park Drive, he moved into the eastbound travel lane and passed the truck, FHP said.

At the same time, the dump truck made a left turn at the intersection, driving into the motorcycle’s path, the agency said.

The front of the motorcycle crashed into the truck’s left side.

The motorcyclist was flown to Tampa General Hospital by BayFlite. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

The truck’s driver, a 54-year-old Plant City man, was uninjured.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.
