Faster than Pizza: Woman Accused of Robbing 3 Banks in 30 Minutes

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies ended the fast-paced spree with an equally expedient arrest.

A 50-year-old Valrico woman racked up a long list of criminal charges after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies say she knocked over three banks in less time than it takes for many pizza deliveries to arrive.

The spree began around 3:19 p.m. Monday when Cindy Carabeo is accused of walking into the 655 Brandon Blvd. BB&T bank and handing the teller a note. That note demanded cash and claimed the woman was armed with a handgun. Carabeo, an email from the sheriff’s office stated, received money and fled the scene.

At 3:35 p.m., deputies say Carabero walked into Wells Fargo at 204 S. Kings Ave. and repeated the action. The third strike came at 3:43 p.m. when the Florida Central Credit Union at 334 Oakfield Drive was robbed.

“Detectives at this point had pieced together enough information to identify the suspect’s tag number that was registered to a 2004 Suzuki 4 door owned by Cindy Carabeo,” the email stated.

Deputies and a K-9 began looking for the woman near her Valrico apartment. When she pulled in, they “immediately apprehended” her, the email said.

Representatives from all three banks positively identified Carabeo as the woman who robbed them. She was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on three counts of armed bank robbery. It is unclear whether the money was recovered, but deputies say they impounded her vehicle for a full search.

Carabeo was being held in the Hillsborough County Jail without bond Tuesday morning.
