Gasparilla Parade highlights...Re-imagined!

This year the Gasparilla parade was led by a 14-year-old African-American boy riding a bicycle who was- not surprisingly- being followed closely by an adorable little police car with its tiny sirens blazing. As this entry stopped at the judging stand countless police clowns began pouring out of the tiny police car and running about in all directions waving their guns at anything that moved much to the delight and cheers of the audience. This parade entry was followed by the Mayor BOB “Black$ on Bike$” Buckhorn riding in a brand new SUV that was purchased with federal grant money that had been earmarked for “criminal justice purposes” in connection with the 2012 Republican National Convention (article link). Hamming it up, the Mayor pretended to be in fear of the young black boy and ordered the police back in to their tiny vehicle to continue their comical pursuit as they passed on by. (article link)

And as if that wasn’t funny enough, they were followed by County Commissioner Sandy Murman, Les Miller and Kevin Beckner all decked out in their pirate regalia and sailing the good ship “Ramappa” with their own rendition of the well known Shirley Temple tune playing over the sound system “on the Good Ship Ramappa, it’s a sweet trip for a campaign stop”. Commissioner Sandy Murman recently accepted a large $3.500 bundle of Ramappa money just 3 days prior to shamelessly voting in favor of the Ramappa’s apartment project (article link). Except for the very first float this year’s parade and elite krewes were whiter than the academy awards. The Gasparilla Pirate Parade is Tampa’s annual symbolic reminder to taxpayers as to who is in charge and how we do business plundering the taxpayers.
