Joke Gets Man Banned From Disney for Life, He Claims

It doesn't pay to goof around about a meth lab in the happiest place on earth, the Florida man says.

A St. Augustine man with a passion for all things Disney has found himself banned from all the company’s parks, resorts and attractions in the Orlando area after a joke went horribly awry.

David Swindler and his family were staying at the Pop Century resort over the Labor Day weekend when he became impatient with one of the employees there. He joked that he could build a meth lab in his hotel room faster than the employee could handle his request, First Coast News reported.

That joke, it seems, wasn’t taken lightly by park officials. Swindler’s room was checked out by Orange County deputies to see if he had meth equipment inside, First Coast reported. He was also issued a trespass warning for all Walt Disney World properties.

That warning, Swindler says, amounts to a ban for life.

While a ban from Disney might seem like paradise for some parents, it’s torture for Swindler who goes by the nickname “Grumpy.” His wife, Shelley, is affectionately known as “Tinkerbell.”

“My first and foremost love is Jesus Christ, then my family and probably Disney,” David Swindler was quoted by WPTV as saying.

Whether Swindler’s passion for Disney runs deeper than the pair of fans who tackled all 46 rides in a single day last year might be up for debate. Even so, Swindler is trying to appeal the ban, First Coast reported.

Disney’s stand on the matter remains unclear. A company spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment when Patch reached out.
