Couple Arrested For Leaving Dog In SUV During Clearwater Concert: Reports

A couple faces animal cruelty charges after leaving their dog in their SUV while they attended a Clearwater concert, reports said.

CLEARWATER, FL — A couple was arrested Saturday for leaving their dog in their SUV while attending a concert in Clearwater, according to multiple reports.

Leticia Ann Moore, 57, of Odessa, and Umberto Locasto, 58, of Tampa, were charged with animal cruelty, a misdemeanor, IONTB.com reported.

They left their shared dog, a small mixed breed, in the SUV with the windows up when they got to the venue around 5 p.m., WFLA said.

After a passerby told Clearwater police about the dog barking inside the SUV, officers found the animal in the vehicle in the area of Drew Street and Osceola Avenue around 8 p.m., reports said.

They found the dog covered in feces with matted fur and a depleted water bowl, Tampa Bay 28 reported.

At the time time, the heat index was 72 degrees when the SUV was parked with the temperature inside the vehicle about 10 to 20 degrees warmer, reports said.

The couple was arrested when they got back to their SUV around 9:30 p.m., reports said. They told police that they checked on the dog, though personnel at the scene said this didn’t happen.
