Godfather Of Funk Makes Final Visit To Tampa Bay Saturday

The "Godfather of Funk," George Clinton, along with his legendary band, Parliament Funkadelic, will bring their final tour to Clearwater.

CLEARWATER, FL -- The "Godfather of Funk," George Clinton, along with his legendary band, Parliament Funkadelic, will bring their final tour to the waterfront of Coachman Park on Saturday, May 5.

Clinton, who turns 77 years old in July, says he will retire in May 2019, making this stop in Clearwater his final in the Tampa Bay Area.

Clinton revolutionized R&B during the '70s with his eclectic form of funk music and psychedelic culture. He would later form the Parliament Funkadelic Machine and continue to dominate the music industry, recording three platinum albums and capturing more than 40 R&B hit singles.

This "Funko De Mayo" show falls on Cinco De Mayo. To celebrate, Clearwater is making this an all-day, funky day at the park with other artists performing before George Clinton takes the stage. There will also be 2-4-1 beer and wine for visitors to enjoy.
