Grandma Assaulted Over Denied Facebook Friend Request

A Clearwater woman is accused of slapping her grandmother multiple times after the denial.

When a 72-year-old woman turned down her granddaughter’s Facebook friend request, things got ugly.

That’s according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, which says the denial sparked a heated argument. That argument ended when the 27-year-old granddaughter decided to slap her grandmother in the face “multiple times,” an arrest affidavit stated.

The incident unfolded around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday at the grandmother’s Clearwater home. The pair lived together for a time when the granddaughter was an infant, deputies say. It is unclear if the granddaughter was just visiting when the argument broke out or if she specifically went to the grandmother’s home to confront her about the friends request denial.
