Tampa Bay Scores with Spring Breakers, Expedia Says

As the north gets blasted with yet another blanket of snow, chances are a lot of people’s thoughts are on escaping the cold for a spring break adventure someplace warmer – much warmer.

For many, those thoughts lead to the Tampa Bay area, according to Expedia.com.

The travel booking website has named Tampa Bay to its Top 10 list of spring break destinations. Although only ranked at No. 9, the region is in good company. Las Vegas tops the list, followed by Orlando in second. Miami is ranked No. 7 while San Francisco trails the pack in 10th place.

While Tampa Bay is named one of the Top 10 destinations, Expedia acknowledges it isn’t necessarily the best deal financially for spring breakers. Average ticket prices to the Bay area are down 6 percent over 2014, but destinations such as Denver and San Jose del Cabo top the list of best deals with their average airfare prices dropping 17 percent and 14 percent, respectively.
