• Help wanted: Brevard County working to fill lifeguard openings (wesh.com) — Brevard County is urgently trying to hire more ocean lifeguards, directly affecting safety at Cocoa Beach Pier, Lori Wilson Park, Minutemen Causeway and other popular spots. Cocoa Beach officials also settled a dispute over life-saving rings, now partnering with the Rotary Club to manage those rescue stations. Applicants must meet strict swim, run and fitness standards for $20.10 an hour starting pay.
