• Man caught on camera vandalizing Virgin Mary statue at Catholic church: deputies (louisianafirstnews.com) — A statue of the Virgin Mary was torn from the prayer garden at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in DeBary and later found discarded in nearby woods, prompting a sheriff’s investigation. Deputies have surveillance video of a man in dark clothing removing the statue and are asking anyone who recognizes him to contact the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
   

• Astronaut from Central Florida prepares for first NASA launch to International Space Station (wusf.org) — A NASA astronaut who considers DeBary his hometown is gearing up to pilot the Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station this fall. Luke Delaney, a Deltona High graduate, will launch from Cape Canaveral, spend six months aboard the station, and perform a spacewalk while conducting science and maintenance work in orbit.
