Dirty In Deerfield-PizzaPiez Shut By State Inspectors They Found Rodent Droppings (deerfield-news.com) — A recent state inspection temporarily closed PizzaPiez on SE 10th Street in Deerfield Beach after finding rodent droppings and 12 total violations, including two high-priority issues. Inspectors detailed problems from ceiling leaks to missing soap and paper towels at handwashing sinks. Operations must remain stopped until all violations are corrected and verified.
   

2. Crystal Lake Attempted Robbery Leads to Shooting and BSO Detectives Bust Three (deerfield-news.com subscription) — An attempted robbery on Crystal Lake Drive in Deerfield Beach led to a shooting and the quick arrest of three teens, though the victim was not hit. Broward Sheriff's Office detectives say the suspects now face serious charges, including attempted armed robbery, false imprisonment, and in one case attempted murder, with bonds and trial proceedings pending.

The Deerfield Beach spot logged two high-priority, two intermediate, and eight basic violations before reopening the next day. The report also tracks other heavily cited restaurants and follow-up inspections regionwide.
   

4. Men's Basketball: Overview of FAU's non-conference schedule (upressonline.com) — Deerfield Beach hoops fans may notice a local connection in FAU's newly released men's basketball non-conference schedule, as the Owls will host South Florida Bible College's Rams, who are based right in Deerfield Beach. The game, set for late December in Boca Raton, caps a busy slate of home, away, and neutral-site matchups against programs from across the country.
