DeLand Police Serve Search Warrant In Double-Murder Investigation (1033wvyb.com) — DeLand police have executed a late-night search warrant on Loughton Street as they investigate the recent shooting deaths of two young men found near the Athens Theatre downtown. Working with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, investigators are still seeking whoever is responsible, and the police chief says the department is focused on finding answers for the victims’ families.

Man accused of stalking 16-year-old to her Volusia County home, shooting gun when not allowed inside (wesh.com) — Deputies say a 27-year-old Lakeland man repeatedly showed up uninvited at a 16-year-old’s home just north of DeLand and fired several shots into the ground when she wouldn’t let him in. He was arrested minutes later on State Road 11 with guns, shell casings, and ammunition in his car, and now faces multiple felony charges while being held without bond.
   

3. These Two Cities Battled in G&G's 'Best Main Street' Bracket. Now They've Forged a Friendship. (gardenandgun.com) — DeLand’s Woodland Boulevard just finished a friendly “Best Main Street” showdown with Fredericksburg, Virginia, and the connection has turned into a real-world visit and budding city friendship. DeLand leaders showcased downtown, De Leon Springs, and local businesses while trading ideas on historic preservation, tourism, and community pride—reinforcing how far DeLand’s once-struggling main street has come.

Braves Tried Landing Former Cy Young Award Winner at Deadline (heavy.com) — DeLand gets a quick shout-out in national baseball news as reporters note that Jacob deGrom’s home here was one reason the Atlanta Braves hoped he’d approve a trade. He ultimately chose to stay with the Texas Rangers, keeping his Cy Young–winning arm in the American League and leaving local fans to watch from afar.
