• Groveland to be reimbursed another $800,000 for Kroger facility closure (growthspotter.com) — Groveland is set to recoup more than $800,000 from Ocado after the sudden closure of Kroger’s massive eCommerce facility at Christopher C. Ford Commerce Park. The reimbursement, due by July 31, will go into the city’s general fund, offsetting incentives once used to attract the project and partially cushioning the loss of hundreds of local jobs and anticipated tax revenue. 
• Lake County leaders, in face of SB 180, discuss rural protection at joint workshop in Leesburg (growthspotter.com) — Groveland is part of a key Lake County agreement that may be rewritten to create new rural protection zones limiting future annexation and development between cities. Local leaders from Groveland and neighboring towns are weighing how far they can go without violating Florida’s SB 180, which lets developers challenge stricter growth controls. Draft maps will return for more discussion later this summer.
