Ocean Beaches Legion Post 129 Hosts Whittington Book Signing for 'Hidden Jacksonville'

Event Details
Florida writer Ron Whittington will be signing copies of his new book 'Hidden History of Jacksonville' from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Ocean Beaches American Legion Post 129, located at 1151 Fourth St. in Jacksonville Beach.
Recently released by Arcadia Publishing, his nonfiction book features nearly 35 stories of lost landmarks, colorful characters and forgotten events that shaped Northeast Florida from the Civil War to modern times.
Readers can dive beneath the St. Johns River to explore the wreckage of a sunken Union steamship, discover how the mineral-rich waters of Doctors Lake once attracted the nation’s wealthy elite, meet the visionary developer who transformed Ponte Vedra into the world-famous Sawgrass resort, and uncover Jacksonville’s role as a military and industrial powerhouse during World War II.
A portion of the event proceeds benefit Post 129.
'Hidden History of Jacksonville' is the first nonfiction book from the author, who received a Royal Palms Award in 2025 for 'In Disguise of the Storm' -- the fourth installment in his Parker Glynn Thriller Series.
