Leadership Jacksonville Hosts Celebration 2021 Honoring Six Unsung COVID-19 Leaders
The virtual premiere on Tuesday, May 25 on YouTube begins at 7 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Leadership Jacksonville will host Celebration 2021 to share the stories of six “Unsung COVID Leaders” who have had a positive impact in Northeast Florida during the pandemic. Celebration 2021 will virtually premiere on Tuesday, May 25 on YouTube beginning at 7 p.m.

Leadership Jacksonville is a nonprofit organization that educates, connects and inspires diverse leaders to build and strengthen their communities. Celebration 2021 will honor community leaders who demonstrated creativity, compassion, and strategic leadership to meet the needs of youth and adults. “The six honorees are just a sampling of many amazing leaders who daily change the lives of others in a positive way. We hope their stories will inspire others to step forward for their community,” said Leadership Jacksonville Chief Executive Officer Jill Langford Dame.
There is no cost to access Celebration 2021. Viewers can tune in to celebrate the “Unsung COVID Leaders” by visiting www.leadershipjax.org for the YouTube link. Viewers can also make a gift through the website to support the development of high school leaders. Proceeds from Celebration 2021 support Youth Leadership Jacksonville.

- Jonathan Insetta, Chef and Owner, Black Sheep Restaurant Group “Jonathan used his resources, quick thinking and relationships to feed and employ members of our community, who otherwise would have been left without.”
- Alexis Magnano, SmartArt Club at Ponte Vedra High School & The Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County, Youth Leadership Jacksonville 2021 “Alexis’s contributions to her community are unique, compassionate and much needed for the vulnerable populations that are experiencing distress during this health pandemic.”
- Chandra Manning, Director of Operations, Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center “Chandra used her myriad gifts to allow patients to receive critical communication help and inspired our clinical staff to stretch their capabilities on behalf of patients.”
- Alberto H. Romero, Resident Physician, UF Department of Emergency Medicine “Through the most difficult times, Alberto holds strong to his commitment to his patients to come in on his days off, stay later and work extra – not to stand out but because he truly enjoys every minute of being there.”
- Leofric Thomas, Jr., Founder and Executive Director, The Straight & Narrow Project, Inc. “Leofric has brought joy and so much hope and a light of success to the students he reaches on a daily basis.”
Leadership Jacksonville was established in 1976 as a vehicle to stimulate growth of leadership in the Northeast Florida community. The mission of Leadership Jacksonville is to educate, connect and inspire diverse leaders to build and strengthen their communities.
