• What did Cesar Oriol Cardoso do to students in his classroom? (attackofthefanboy.com) — Parents in Kendall should know that a former Sunset Park Elementary teacher has been arrested on multiple felony charges after several young students reported inappropriate touching, sexual comments, and exposure to explicit material. Miami-Dade County Public Schools removed him from the classroom, launched a police investigation, and say he is permanently barred from future employment with the district. 
• Sister Carmen Álvarez, OP, 91 (miamiarch.org) — Kendall readers may remember Sister Carmen Álvarez, who once served for two years at a Dominican retreat house in Kendall before decades of ministry across South Florida. The 91-year-old nun, originally from Havana, later worked extensively with migrants, refugees, and Hispanic parish communities before her death this month in Michigan.
