"American Leviathan

The Birth of the Administrative State and Progressive Authoritarianism | By Ned Ryun

American Leviathan begins with the story of how we have arrived where we are today after the rise of Progressive Statism and its massive, bureaucratic administrative state at the turn of the 20th century. Governmental abuse by a class of so-called experts has grown unchecked because of Progressives’ quiet regime change over the last century and their replacing our constitutional republic with that administrative state. Our government today has vanishingly fewer relations to what the Founders envisioned. So, the question for us today in the 21st century is this: will we restore the American Republic and actually have a government of, by, and for the people? According to Ryun, yes. From where we have arrived today, American Leviathan details how an empowered executive in the White House can move forward to effectively devolve and break apart the administrative state that is the Leviathan crushing the freedoms of the American people."

According to left-leaning Bing’s AI powered Copilot: “On January 20, 1993, the U.S. population was approximately 258.8 million(1). As of today, the U.S. population is estimated to be around 337.1 million(2).” If so, then about 78.3 million Americans were born on or after the day when William Jefferson “Bill” Clinton (D) was sworn in as the 42nd President of the United States (POTUS). About 77 percent of the population may recall the following famous and memorable Clinton quotes.

That second quote is found at the Clinton Administration archives in: President Clinton's 1996 State of the Union Address as delivered (archives.gov). Per that source, quoting from that Clinton address because it is timely and insightful.

"We must answer here three fundamental questions: First, how do we make the American Dream of opportunity for all a reality for all Americans who are willing to work for it? Second, how do we preserve our old and enduring values as we move into the future? And, third, how do we meet these challenges together, as one America?

We know big government does not have all the answers. We know there's not a program for every problem. We have worked to give the American people a smaller, less bureaucratic government in Washington. And we have to give the American people one that lives within its means.

The era of big government is over. But we cannot go back to the time when our citizens were left to fend for themselves. Instead, we must go forward as one America, one nation working together to meet the challenges we face together. Self-reliance and teamwork are not opposing virtues; we must have both.

I believe our new, smaller government must work in an old-fashioned American way, together with all of our citizens through state and local governments, in the workplace, in religious, charitable and civic associations. Our goal must be to enable all our people to make the most of their own lives -- with stronger families, more educational opportunity, economic security, safer streets, a cleaner environment in a safer world.

To improve the state of our Union, we must ask more of ourselves, we must expect more of each other, and we must face our challenges together.

Here, in this place, our responsibility begins with balancing the budget in a way that is fair to all Americans. There is now broad bipartisan agreement that permanent deficit spending must come to an end.

I compliment the Republican leadership and the membership for the energy and determination you have brought to this task of balancing the budget. And I thank the Democrats for passing the largest deficit reduction plan in history in 1993, which has already cut the deficit nearly in half in three years.

Since 1993, we have all begun to see the benefits of deficit reduction. Lower interest rates have made it easier for businesses to borrow and to invest and to create new jobs. Lower interest rates have brought down the cost of home mortgages, car payments and credit card rates to ordinary citizens. Now, it is time to finish the job and balance the budget."

For those who think that deficit reduction can't get done, we need but look back to the bipartisan work accomplished when Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (GA-R), President Clinton, and members of both the Democratic and Republican parties jointly accomplished.

There are dozens of possible takeaways from the above from Clinton coupled with insights from author Ned Ryun, based on the information from Encounter Books. Let's touch on only a few.

1) The reverse of what Clinton said is also true. When deficits are large, interest rates go up.

2) We have had record so-called "peacetime" deficits under Biden-Harris. It must be noted that because Kamala Harris, the current Democratic Party nominee for the presidency, cast a record number of tie-breaking votes in the U.S. Senate. That means that she 'owns' the Biden-Harris policies as much as Joe Biden (D) does. That's per the left-leaning New York Times. Harris also covered for Biden's apparent mental acuity issues.

3) Despite record spending, we have more homelessness under Biden-Harris.

4) Biden-Harris (D) era HUD data reported by the federal agency to Congress supports that claim above.

5) This writer recently shared on the Patch the importance of understanding that "There Ain't No such Things As a Free Lunch."

https://patch.com/florida/lake...

This is not new, which is why when Kamala Harris (D), or any candidate, promises something that seems to be 'for nothing' there is always, always a cost to it. To be fair, when deposed President Donald J. Trump (R) - or ANY candidate from ANY party - seems to offer something for nothing, that same principle would apply.

We have have record housing unaffordability in after record spending. That's according to data from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and others.

6) The Clinton (D) speech quoted above directly contradicts several of the claims and implications from the facts offered by Harris and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz (MN-D). That's a problem for thinking people. That's not a problem for those who have been lulled into accepting obviously deceptive information. To learn more about that see the post below.

7) For those who do not grasp the word-games so many politicians, and some people in business, employ see the article linked above and what follows. Because the disconnects involving Harris are numerous. Harris, to the point raised by Ned Ryun's thesis, is apparently for big government. Trump, for whatever his obvious flaws are, has demonstrated a more common-sense approach that includes reducing the size of government, lowering interest rates, and lowering costs by using the free market wisely.

For anyone interested in more affordable housing, in lower costs on utilities, gas, food, travel, and interest rates, lower deficits is part of the story. Who said? Then Democratic President Bill Clinton. Do we need a smaller government? Yes. Who said? Former President Bill Clinton (D). Note, I've not yet read Ryun's book, but the premise is demonstrably sound. As an older teen and through my adult life lover and student of history, without a doubt, Ryun's premise for American Leviathan is sound.
