Deputies in Polk County are looking for a 39-year-old mother, her two sons and possibly her mother due to a custody dispute with the boys' father.
Kelli Rae Alderman, 39, was last reported seen Tuesday around 3 p.m. at the Bartow courthouse where she was ordered to turn over the children to their father, Dennis Hagood of Homerville Ga, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
Alderman, who previously resided in Georgia, has been living at her 73-year-old mother Faye Louise Adams' Lakeland home on Lake James Drive, deputies said.
Detectives said they checked Adams' residence, and neither Alderman, the children nor Adams were home, plus Adams' car, a 2010 gray Lexus with Florida tag HBXS56, was gone. Alderman's vehicle is a 2016 gray Toyota Corolla with Georgia tags RFT6238.
The missing boys are described as: 9-year-old Sid Large, who has brown hair, brown eyes, weighs 85 pounds and is approximately 4 feet tall; and Ace Large, 5, with brown hair, brown eyes, standing 3 feet tall and about 35 pounds.
The children are considered "endangered" as they were court-ordered to be returned to their father, Hagood, who has court orders from Georgia and Polk County for custody, deputies said. However, as this appears to be a child-custody dispute, the case "does not rise to the level of an Amber Alert, and we do not believe the children are in imminent danger," the department said. "Detectives are concerned, and want the children to be returned back to their father per the court's order."
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Alderman, the children or Adams is asked to contact Detective Maria Sorensen at 863-287-7441 or the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 863-298-6200.
