Polk Sheriff: Woman Put Chihuahua In Bag, Placed It In Dumpster
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says a Winter Haven woman sealed her pet Chihuahau in a trash bag and then left it to die in a Dumpster.
WINTER HAVEN, FL — The Polk County Sheriff's Office says a Winter Haven woman sealed her pet Chihuahau in a trash bag and then left it to die in a Dumpster because she couldn't afford to keep it.
Deputies charged Shawkimo Anderson, 41, with third-degree felony animal cruelty. They say she admitted to putting the dog she'd owned for four years, Diamond, in the trash bag and then placing the little dog in a Dumpster behind her apartment at 4073 Mahogany Run.
On Saturday, two residents in the area heard a noise coming from the Dumpster that sounded like a dog barking. When they investigated, they found the Chihuahua. Diamond was still alive but died a short time later.
