Polk Co. Utilities Amends Pollution Notice

LAKELAND, FL – Polk County Utilities has amended the pollution notice for Lift Station #100, 3595 Shepherd Road in Lakeland.

"Further investigation by our operations staff determined that the sewer discharge went to a storm water retention pond and not Poley Creek as originally reported," the agency said.

Signs were posted around the retention pond as a precaution and sampling was done at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, and the State Watch Office was contacted with the updated information at 5:45 p.m.
