Fundraiser Benefits Fallen Officer's Family

The benefit is being staged by the Pasco County Fraternal Order of the Police.

Tampa Bay area residents who want to honor the memory of slain Tarpon Springs Police Officer and give his family a hand can do so during an upcoming musical fundraiser with some barbecue on the side.

The Pasco County Fraternal Order of Police plans a benefit Jan. 4 from noon to 6 p.m. The event takes place at Rotary Pavilion at The Concourse, 15325 Alric Pottberg Road in Shady Hills.

Three bands are lined up for the event – the Embry Brothers Band, The Bearded Brothers and Machine. Barbecue will also be available for purchase, along with T-shirts and a live and silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Kondek family.

Charles Kondek was shot and then run over while responding to a noise complaint call on Dec. 21.

Kondek, 45, leaves behind a wife, Teresa, and six children: Aleena, Brandon, Andrew, Charlie Jr., Holly and Tiffany, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

His accused killer, Marco Antonio Parilla Jr., 23, now faces first-degree murder charges in the death of the veteran law enforcement officer who served about five years with the New York City Police Department before reporting for duty in Tarpon Springs more than 17 years ago.

The Rotary Pavilion is located off State Road 52, just west of the Suncoast Parkway.
