Weapon Used in Officer's Shooting Was Stolen, Cops Say

The Glock 40 has been traced to an August theft in Jacksonville.

The weapon that was fired at Tarpon Spring Police Officer Charles Kondek Sunday morning was reported stolen months ago from Jacksonville.

That’s the latest from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office as its detectives work to uncover all details surrounding the officer’s death. Kondek, 45, was shot and run over in a parking lot while responding to a noise complaint call.

Marco Antonio Parilla Jr., 23, now faces first-degree murder charges in the death of the veteran law enforcement officer who served about five years with the New York City Police Department before reporting for duty in Tarpon Springs more than 17 years ago.
