Update: Gas Leak Cleared on State Road 56

Update May 7, 5:12 p.m.: TECO reports that the 2-inch gas line has been repaired. The line is intended to hook up to a restaurant being built in the area. No evacuations, other than the construction workers, were deemed necessary, officials say.

Motorists who travel along State Road 56 might want to prepare for some potential delays.

Pasco County Fire Rescue, the sheriff’s office and emergency management are on the scene of a Thursday afternoon gas leak at 26835 State Road 56 in Wesley Chapel.

According to Pasco County spokesman Doug Tobin, it appears that contractors hit a 2-inch gas line. The only evacuations so far involved the construction crew, he noted.

TECO is on the way to address the leak.
