Suspected Serial Church Burglar Arrested

The man is believed to be responsible for a rash of burglaries in Pasco County.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in the spree of church burglaries that began on July 1.

Deputies say David Allen Weicht, 40, was brought into custody Tuesday evening after family members and area residents identified him as the person wanted in connection with one of the burglaries.

“The hat, gloves, camouflaged shorts, T-shirt and shoes the suspect wore as well as the flashlight the suspect used, which was caught in the surveillance video from Temple Baptist Church, has been recovered by detectives,” an email from the sheriff’s office to media stated. “Weicht is believed to be linked to nine church burglaries in Dade City, San Antonio and Zephyrhills as well as multiple burglaries at mobile home parks in Zephyrhills.”
