• Pinellas County Schools recommends closing 7 schools as part of $25M cost-saving plan (tampabay28.com) — Pinellas County Schools, headquartered in Largo, is proposing a $25 million cost‑saving plan that would close seven schools, rezone students, and repurpose campuses into more K‑8 and technical or fundamental options. District leaders say no teachers are expected to lose jobs, and families in Largo and across the county will soon be able to weigh in through school meetings, public hearings, and an online Planning for Progress tool.
   

• NOAA Sets Fall Shark Identification Workshops as Look-Alike Species Complicate Atlantic Catch Reports (natureworldnews.com) — Commercial shark dealers and longline or gillnet crews in the Largo area can attend a required NOAA shark identification workshop on November 11 at the Hampton Inn and Suites on East Bay Drive. The free, four‑hour session helps keep federal permits valid and teaches how to correctly identify look‑alike shark species, while separate workshops elsewhere cover safe handling and release of protected marine animals.
