KEY BISCAYE, FL — A Miami-area waterfront estate with a storied history is on the market for $237 million.
The Key Biscayne property at 485 W. Matheson Drive was once a retreat for President Richard Nixon, dubbed the “Winter White House,” according to the listing from the Jills Zeder Group with Coldwell Banker, which is representing the property.
More notably, the estate reached cinematic fame as drug lord Frank Lopez’s home in the movie “Scarface.” Original elements seen in the film, including the iconic glass elevator, are preserved in the home today, the group said.
It also appeared in the credits of “Miami Vice,” the Miami Herald said.
If the home sells for its asking price, or close to it, it would be the most expensive sale in Miami-Dade history, the New York Times said.
The current record holder is a 2-acre Indian Creek property recently purchased by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, Patch previously reported.
The 11,500-square-foot, three-story mansion, boasting five bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms and a gym that can be converted into a sixth bedroom, sits on 2.38 acres, the listing said.
It offers 862 feet of direct Bascayne Bay frontage, as well as unobstructed views of the nearby Miami skyline and the bay.
Other features include 24-foot-plus ceilings, marble floors, large terraces, a piano-shaped saltwater pool and walls of glass providing breathtaking bay views.
There’s also a private marina, which was formerly a presidential helipad, that comes with rare 3-phase power and dockage for yachts up to 200 feet and more than 34,000 square feet of submerged land, the listing said.
The Key Biscayne property is currently owned by John Devaney, who first encountered the property in 2003 when he flew over it during a helicopter-flying lesson and spotted the helipad, the Wall Street Journal reported.
