FL Has 5 Mega Millions Winners, Don't Throw Your Tickets Out Yet

In Florida, five winning Mega Millions tickets were sold in Friday's drawing. Each winner in the Sunshine State took home $1 or $2 million.

FLORIDA — While one lucky player in Illinois took home the second-largest prize in Mega Millions history — a jackpot worth $1.337 billion — Friday night, five Florida players each won $1 or $2 million in the drawing. So, don’t throw out your tickets yet.

In addition to the jackpot hit in Illinois — which is also the third-largest lottery win in the U.S. — there were 26 second-tier winners in the drawing. Winners were spread out across 17 state, including: Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin.

The five winning tickets in Florida matched all five of the white ball numbers, but didn’t match the Mega Ball number, according to a Florida Lottery news release.
