FPL Set To Complete Miami-Dade Power Restoration

FPL officials said that power had been restored to 97 percent of Miami-Dade County by Monday.

MIAMI, Fl — Florida Power & Light says it will "essentially" restore power to all Miami-Dade customers by the end of Tuesday. Meanwhile some 123,520 customers were still without power in the state's eight most southern counties as of Monday night, according to a Patch analysis. FPL has set a target of restoring power to all Florida customers by the end of Friday.

"Miami-Dade County is 97 percent restored, Broward County is 99 percent restored and restoration efforts in Northeast Florida from Putnam County north through Nassau County are on track or ahead of schedule," FPL officials said Monday. "In Southwest Florida, power restoration is 85 percent complete or higher in Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, DeSoto, Lee and Glades counties. Hendry County is 75 percent restored and more than 78 percent of customers are restored in Collier County, where Irma made landfall and inflicted the worst damage."

As of Monday night, the power company reported that it had restored power to 2,940,255 customers. FPL has 4.1 million customers in the affected areas of South Florida.
