Records show he'd been released from Miami-Dade jail just days earlier on a felony grand theft and burglary case, and now faces new battery and criminal mischief charges.

Man fled scene of Sweetwater hit-and-run in rideshare, police say (nbcmiami.com) — A Sweetwater driver is accused of fleeing a hit-and-run crash near Southwest 107th Avenue and 4th Street, then being tracked down and detained by Miami Police after leaving in an Uber. The 30-year-old faces charges including leaving the scene and driving with a suspended license, and is expected in bond court as the victim recovers from non-serious injuries.

Feds stop boat smuggling 18 people from Bahamas to Miami-Dade, agents say (miamiherald.com) — Federal agents intercepted a boat off Miami-Dade County that was allegedly smuggling 18 people from Bimini to South Florida, including several previously ordered removed from the U.S. Customs and Homeland Security records say the overloaded vessel was tracked 22 nautical miles from Miami-Dade before everyone aboard was detained and four men were ordered held until trial.
