MIAMI, FL — The Jingle Ball tour’s Miami stop, which was scheduled to take place Sunday night at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, was canceled due to increased transmission of the new COVID-19 omicron variant, Y100 Miami announced Sunday morning.

In a statement shared on its website and social media, Y100 Miami said, “Due to the increased transmission of the new COVID-19 variant and to further minimize any potential risks, as a precautionary measure and for the safety of our staff, talent and guests, we have made the decision to cancel tonight’s iHeartRadio Y100 Jingle Ball.”

The new case positivity rate in Miami-Dade County for the week of Dec. 10-16 was 7 percent with 11,689 cases reported during that time, according to data from the Florida Department of Health.

During the previous week, Dec. 3-9, only 2,771 new cases and a 2 percent new case positivity rate was reported.

Though the radio station initially said ticket holders would receive a refund within 48 hours, Y100 later commented “that refunds may take between three and 30 days to be reflected in (their) account.”

According to the Ticketmaster website, no action is required to get a refund, which will be processed to the original method of payment used to purchase the tickets. Refunds will be given once funds are received from the event organizer, which usually happens within 30 days, Ticketmaster said.

The Miami show was scheduled to be Jingle Ball’s final tour stop this season. The South Florida show was slated to feature some of the biggest stars in pop and rock, including Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Black Eyed Peas, AJR, Saweetie, Tate McRae, Monsta X, Bazzi and Dixie D’Amelio.

Several of the acts had already pulled out of the show because of COVID-19 outbreaks among their crew.

A week ago, Doja Cat shared on Instagram that several members of her production team tested positive for COVID-19, causing her to pull out of the remainder of the Jingle Ball tour, including the Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Miami shows. This was “a safety precaution,” she said, though she later tested positive for the virus, herself.

Megan Thee Stallion dropped out of the Atlanta show after being exposed to COVID-19, The Blast reported. Several of her team members had been exposed to coronavirus. While she tested negative, she shared on Instagram Thursday that she hasn’t been feeling well.

The Jonas Brothers also backed out of the Atlanta tour date for similar reasons, reports said.
