• Mount Dora, FL, Firefighters Train for Vehicle Fires in Parking Garages (firehouse.com) — Mount Dora firefighters recently conducted a live-fire training in a parking deck to prepare for dangerous vehicle fires like the 2025 Jacksonville airport garage blaze. Crews practiced tactics for locating burning vehicles, limiting fire spread, and handling challenges such as electric batteries, smoke, and garages that lack sprinkler systems. 
• Woman killed driving wrong way on Florida's Turnpike, others injured (tcpalm.com) — Mount Dora residents were involved in a serious wrong-way crash on Florida’s Turnpike in Indian River County, where a Fort Pierce driver was killed and several people were injured. A 46-year-old woman from Mount Dora suffered minor injuries, while two other Mount Dora occupants in the same truck were not hurt. The northbound lanes were closed for hours as troopers investigated.
