Adam Matos Pleads Not Guilty in Quadruple Homicide

The state plans to seek the death penalty.

Adam Matos has pleaded not guilty in a quadruple homicide that rocked Pasco County this summer.

Matos entered his plea Monday morning, according to The Tampa Tribune.

State prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty in the case that will now move forward to a pre-trial hearing on Dec. 9.

Matos has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the August deaths of his ex-girlfriend, her parents and her boyfriend.

Pasco County deputies say Megan Brown and her father, Gregory, were shot. Megan’s mother Margaret and boyfriend Nicholas Leonard both suffered blunt force trauma to the head.Β Their bodies were discovered in early September as a manhunt was launched for Matos and his missing 4-year-old son, Ismael β€œTristian” Santisteban.

Matos had taken the boy and fled to downtown Tampa where police there helped bring him into custody. The boy was recovered safe and sound and was eventually turned over to family.

Matos was charged in the murders on Sept. 15.
